Introducing our keynote speaker, Dr. Adam Byrd.

Dr Adam Byrd was born and raised in Louisville, MS (pop 6,600) where he now practices full-scope medical and surgical dermatology. He earned his Bachelor of Science from the US Military Academy and worked as a cavalry officer in the regular Army for 5 years, completing one deployment to Iraq in 2003-4. He then moved back to Louisville and owned a small landscape maintenance business for 2 years before starting medical school. He earned his MD from the University of Mississippi in 2011 and completed an integrated residency in internal medicine – dermatology at the University of Minnesota in 2016. He is now the solo physician in a unique academic rural satellite clinic, and has trained over 80 students and residents from all over the country at that site. He plays the central teaching role in Mississippi’s Rural Dermatology Program, and has trained 3 residents and has 3 more in training at present. Dr Byrd is now a Lieutenant Colonel in the Mississippi Army National Guard, and practices some hospital medicine at his local 14 bed hospital. He has 3 children, and after clinic he enjoys working on his small hobby farm where he raises cattle and pigs.
